Supporting Autistic Students with School-to-Home Transitions: OT Strategies for SNAs

Supporting Autistic Students with School-to-Home Transitions: OT Strategies for SNAs

Overview
This Occupational Therapist-led webinar is designed specifically for SNAs supporting Autistic students during two of the most significant parts of the day: transitioning into school and transitioning home again. These key transition points can often bring increased stress, sensory overload and nervous system dysregulation.

Focusing on co-regulation, predictability and emotional safety, this session will explore how SNAs can support smoother starts to the school day, reduce anxiety around arrival and help prepare students for the shift from school to home.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will gain practical strategies to:

  • create supportive routines
  • reduce overwhelm
  • foster a greater sense of safety, connection and readiness at both ends of the school day

Facilitator - Aideen Ruttledge
