GAP - Teaching in the Age of Trump

Global Action Plan (GAP) Ireland

Teaching in the Age of Trump
Trump has upended the global order, torn up climate targets and overseas aid, and led an onslaught on the very concept of truth. He is a symptom of, and a driver of, the polarisation of the 21st century. How can we teach students about the world when everything we knew has changed so quickly?

Global Action Plan (GAP) Ireland
GAP Ireland’s work is rooted in the belief that each of us has the power to spark transformation: in ourselves, in our communities, and in the Earth we share.

Through practical, purpose-driven programmes, we guide people on a journey, to help them reconnect with nature and with other people.

Together with people in communities, schools and businesses all over Ireland, we are growing a movement for change: A community of people who care deeply, act wisely, and live gently with the Earth.

Our Vision:
We want to ensure that people in Ireland have the knowledge, skills and motivation to make sustainable lifestyle choices within their communities, to realise a better future for our planet and for the people that depend on it.

Our Mission:
We want to be the leading organisation for environmental behaviour change in Ireland. We want to work with people at all levels of society, empowering them to take informed action. We support individuals, as members of their communities, through our programmes with community groups, schools, public bodies and businesses. In doing that, we focus on driving behaviour change, education and awareness through toolkit development; training and education programmes; employee engagement and volunteering opportunities; and encouraging people to engage in advocacy and campaigning.

Our Theory of Change
The biodiversity and environmental crises are endangering life on our planet, and rapidly getting worse. To reverse the damage, and build a society that is more sustainable, both socially, economically and ecologically, we need to promote large-scale change in richer countries, who are responsible for the vast majority of the unsustainable practices that are causing the crises.

We need a radical change to human consumption patterns across the globe to avoid irreversible destruction of life on our planet.

Our History
Established in 1995, Global Action Plan has developed to be a cross-community, and hugely innovative, environmental  organisation, offering education to a diverse range of people throughout Ireland.
