Bio – Betty Fitzgerald M.Ed (Music) Music Educator | Choral Conductor | CPD Specialist.
Betty Fitzgerald brings almost four decades of hands on music education experience to this webinar, including nine years lecturing at MTU Cork School of Music and twenty years as a visiting music teacher across ten Cork primary schools, where she taught and worked with hundreds of teachers in their classrooms. She is also the musical director of Cór Geal, a large 4-part choir www.corgealchoir.ie, and has experience conducting several school choirs.
She holds a master’s in education (Music) from Trinity College Dublin, and was awarded Distinction, for her dissertation which focused specifically on music CPD for primary school teachers. At the heart of everything Betty does is one simple belief, every generalist teacher already has what it takes to teach music with confidence. You don't need to be a musician to grow a musical child, you just need to be a gardener. A gardener doesn't become a plant. They create the conditions for growth. Every teacher who sings with their class, however, imperfectly is creating those conditions.
